If we succeed we still may die

For those that have never served may I offer some sobering thoughts.

Glyn Berry's funeral in London
Police, Firefighters, EMT, soldiers, sailors and aircrew are all the ones that if we do our job correctly there is always a chance that we may still die.

When one has political issues about a certain mission or event and one refuses to go ....there are always options about leaving the service.  The mission in Afghanistan is a completely volunteer mission and follows the same Canadian ideals that led to an almost all volunteer force in NWMP march west, Riel rebellion, Boer War, World War 1, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam (soldiers chose to join the American Army knowing they would be deployed), Peacekeeping, and the conflict in Afghanistan.

No one is ever forced to go.
