Murders and the Kinder connection

Kinder Surprise  (also known  as a Kinder Egg)

The countries that allow Kinder Eggs have a smaller murder rate than those countries that ban Kinder Eggs. Up to 2001 Kinder eggs were restricted to Western Europe, Japan and Hong Kong countries with lower murder rates than those that ban the Kinder Egg.
Kinder eggs have been allowed in Canada since 1975... The homicide rate has generally been declining since 1975, and to put it in numbers there were about 700 murders in 1975 in Canada and in 2009 there was 610 murders.
Obviously there was an increase in population numbers the true reason could only be in the access to Kinder Eggs...

"Lind Bird a Winnipeg native was recently stopped at the U.S. border and selected for a random search of her vehicle. She was warned she could have faced a fine after the customs official found — and seized — her $2 Kinder Surprise egg as illegal contraband.
The U.S. takes catching illegal Kinder candy seriously, judging by the number of them they've confiscated in the last year. Officials said they've seized more than 25,000 of the treats in 2,000 separate seizures."

Obviously I am trying to make a  point that the real issue in things like murder rates, drug crimes is not the ever supply of Kinder Eggs but quite possibly the instability of governments, availability of weapons and the inability of police to enforce law and order.
Gun control can be an issue but the real issue is the effectiveness of law and order.  For the United States the further they are from a southern border region the less is the murder rate.
 In Canada the murder
rate increases as the number of police decrease.
Murders in Canada 2009
Toronto (GTA) murders 90
Vancouver (GVA) murders 61
Montreal murders 44
Winnipeg murders 32
Edmonton murders 30
Calgary murders 24
Ottawa murders 10
Quebec city murders 2
As with the attempted assassination of a US congress women last week we must look at the true reasons for such behavior.  There are issues about the access to mental health, the reporting of mental health and the availability of weapons and ammunition.  Border control needs to worry about the spread of Mexican drug cartels, Eastern European gangs, South Asian gangs, and even Native gangs.
They are not importing Kinder Eggs.
